Spinnova continues collaboration with aspiring fashion designer, Sofia Ilmonen

Spinnova continues the collaboration with Finnish fashion designer Sofia Ilmonen, launching their second joint collection that showcases fabrics made with SPINNOVA® fibres in modular garments. The new capsule collection consists of two pink outfits which can be mixed and matched, including shoes made from SPINNOVA® fabrics.

The collection will be featured in "Fashion Redressed," a series presented by the Global Fashion Agenda and produced by BBC StoryWorks.

"I have found a more thoughtful and responsible way of creating new clothes that align with my values when it comes to fashion. My approach is through modular, transformable design. Through this approach, I'm thinking about how to extend longevity by transforming garments into different ones," says Sofia Ilmonen.

"Working with an innovative company like Spinnova and their approach to creating new fibres means a lot. I'm hopeful about what new solutions and innovations can bring to the table," she continues.

The module-based outfits created in the collaboration can be taken apart and rebuilt into different silhouettes, including tops, skirts, and dresses. The modular design of the garments makes them adaptable to various sizes, and the concept adheres to a zero-waste pattern cutting approach.

"I am thrilled to expand on the collection Sofia has created with SPINNOVA® materials. To change the fashion industry for the better, I believe we need both sustainable alternatives to the materials being used, as well as a shift towards simpler more regenerative design principles that can be easily recycled in the future. I am confident that innovative, value-driven partnerships such as Spinnova with Sofia Ilmonen can bring us one step closer to that goal,” says Diana Balanescu, the Global Brand Director of Spinnova.
