Pekka Järvelin joins Spinnova as Process Technician

Spinnova has appointed Pekka Järvelin, 58, in its technology team as Process Technician as of 6 May, 2019.

Järvelin joins Spinnova from Elomatic, who oversaw the design and installation of Spinnova’s pilot production line. Järvelin was involved in the layout and installation planning from beginning to end, and after the project it felt natural to join Spinnova’s technology team.

Factory infrastructures and layouts are in the core of Järvelin’s competence. He has a long work history in challenging technology layout, change and installation projects, 24 years of which with Finnish paper machine technology company Valmet. Järvelin’s specialty is offline maintenance.

– I was more than happy to join Spinnova’s great team, and really think I will be able to add value to the current and upcoming operations with my long experience, he comments.

Spinnova has recently entered a pilot phase in the development of the world’s most sustainable textile fibre, produced without harmful chemicals. At year-end last year, Spinnova completed its industrial scale pilot line in Jyväskylä, Finland, and will now focus on joint product development with brand partners. In practice, this means developing prototypes of commercial products, where part or all current materials are replaced with Spinnova’s cellulose-based fibre.

Spinnova currently employs 15 people.
